About

I’m an Active Duty US Army chaplain, ordained and endorsed by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In my time in the Army, I have experience working in several ministry contexts, including three years of prison ministry. I’m currently an ACPE Certified Educator Candidate, working at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

My wife, Sara, is an ordained pastor serving Rolling Oaks Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and we have three kids.

Disclaimer: Nothing written on this site reflects the official views of the United States Army, the United States Army Chaplain Corps, or the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Several years ago I posted this sign on my door as a mark of my ministry:

No matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

Really. I mean that.
Liberal, Conservative, Independent, and Apathetic.
Atheist, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Agnostic, Pagan, Heathen, None-of-Those and None-at-All.
Seeing a theme here? If I left you out, know that I include you.
All orientations and genders.
Church-going and church-avoiding.

You are welcome here.

As your chaplain, I make you this promise:
I will not judge you.
I will not condemn you.
I will ask the hard questions necessary for growth.
I will extend the grace of God to you.

You are welcome into this Sacred and Safe space.

Good to see your still preaching….have you used any of the Bennett sermon notes?

  2. Hello, I’ve enjoyed some of your posts and have nominated you for the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award.” Not sure how “official” it is, but it will surely be a little fun. For more information about it and the awards requirements see my blog where I was nominated: http://daryldensford.com/2012/12/08/very-inspiring-blogger-award/

  4. David Bartlett

Hi, my name is David Bartlett and I’m in the US Navy’s chaplain candidate program and a commissioned officer through them. Currently I am a full time seminary student and youth pastor with FCC Corpus Christi. As of right now my endorser is not doc but I was looking for more info about that. If you wouldn’t mind contacting me that would be greatly appreciated.
